“I’ll come back to you. I promise!”
– Sora to Kairi, Kingdom Hearts
*Cue in Utada Hikaru’s Simple and Clean*
It’s January 29, 2019, guys! I’ve been waiting for this day for so long! What’s so special about this day?
The final chapter of the Kingdom Heart’s saga, Kingdom Hearts III, comes out today!!! Weeeee!!!!
I still can’t believe it! I’ve been waiting for this game for so long! After so many years of waiting, it’s finally here!
Yes, I’m excited. A few years back, they made me believe that it will come out for the PS3 and I was already hyped! Hey, PS3 graphics was nice and still nice up to this day. (I still have my mom’s PS3 working just fine.) But then Square Enix released a statement that it will be for the PS4. Imagine how horrified I was when they announced that! Back then, I didn’t have a PS4. (I don’t even remember when it came out, actually. It’s been that long…) And I didn’t get a PS4 until I got married and my hubby bought one for me as a birthday present (and I was so happy when he did!!). I figured that I didn’t need a PS4 before regardless of how good the graphics were (I was more into the storyline of a game than the graphics…). But Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness came out and thus, my hubby got me a PS4.
Quick Review:
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Integrity and Faithlessness wasn’t so bad, but the camera movements made me dizzy at times. The graphics were simply amazing, and I love the exploring part, but the battle system? Eh. As I’ve stated earlier, the camera movements sometimes made me dizzy and there’s a bunch of characters fighting all together. I believe there were eight available characters and all of them can be controlled if you switch to them. It’s not that bad, but I wished they kept it to at least 3 characters per battle, just like Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
The story is kind of weak too, and honestly, I can’t even remember it anymore. (I remember Fidel and Miki found a strange girl and she’s being hunted by someone, but other than that, I’m drawing a blank.) Fidel’s attacks are very much like Fayt (and I came to know that Fidel’s swordsmanship was a predecessor to his) so that was a plus, aside from the fact that they have the same hair color. (At first I thought Fidel IS Fayt, but no. The reason being that they almost looked alike was because SO’s odd numbered games’ heroes have blue hair and even numbered have blondies.) All in all, it’s an okay game with nice graphics.
Alright, going back to Kingdom Hearts. In case you haven’t played any Kingdom Hearts, it’s a story about Sora, a boy chosen by the keyblade and his quest to save the worlds from falling into the darkness. Or at least, that’s what I got from playing it. Teaming up with his Sora’s world hopping and saving, are Disney’s Donald and Goofy as his trusted companions. Aside from them, every Disney world that they land on, they are met with other Disney characters. My favorite worlds are the Pirates of the Caribbean and Halloween Town from the Nightmare Before Christmas.
The first KH game, Sora was tossed into a new world because his world was swallowed by the darkness. He lost his friends, Kairi and Riku, and he embarked on a journey to find them and go back to their islands. And then… aaah, I would love to tell you the story of Kingdom Hearts, but the games that came out after the first one made it complex that I don’t even know what’s going on anymore, lol.
Don’t get me wrong though. I still love Kingdom Hearts. It reminds me of the good old days. You see, I first played KH when I was in high school (early 2000’s) and back in the Philippines (did I mentioned that I was born there?)
I wanted to pick up KH3 last night, but then decided against it. One: Gamestop is the only place I know that releases a new game the night before the actual release date. (I forgot what Gamestop called it… like a street day or something. Baaah, and I used to work there as well…) I pre-ordered from Gamestop before, but my brother pre-ordered KH3 at BestBuy for me at a discounted price (he has a GCU) and thus, I wasn’t able to pick it up. But I have another reason why I won’t pick it up even if I have a Gamestop order.
Fun Fact:
The last time I cam to pick up a game the night before the actual release date; it was for Final Fantasy 15. Hubby came with me when I picked it up and we stayed until Gamestop closed at 9PM (they can only release the preordered game after 9PM). While I was waiting in line and Hubby was in the car, we heard some sort of gunshots. I didn’t give it too much thought and dismissed it as some sort of fireworks or something. Got the game, went home and started playing Final Fantasy.
Came the following day and I read from the news that there was a shoot out near the Gamestop we where at. No one was hurt. But because of that incident, I told myself that I will never, ever pickup a game again until the actual release date.
Ahh… can’t wait to go home and play Kingdom Hearts 3.
